Velocity is a word we use to describe how fast something is moving and in which direction it’s going. Imagine you’re riding a bicycle. If you’re riding slowly, your velocity is low. But if you’re pedaling really fast, your velocity is high. Now, if you’re pedaling forward, your velocity is in the forward direction. But if you decide to pedal backward, your velocity is in the backward direction.

So, velocity is a measure of both speed and direction. It tells us not only how fast something is moving but also where it’s going. It’s like a combination of speed and the way you’re going.

For example, if you’re riding your bike at 10 miles per hour towards the park, your velocity is 10 miles per hour in the forward direction. But if you turn around and ride your bike at 10 miles per hour back home, your velocity is 10 miles per hour in the backward direction.

That’s velocity! It’s all about how fast something is moving and in which direction it’s moving.
